Before the first practice

You do not need much gear to start. Cleats, shin guards, a ball in the right size for their age, a water bottle, and comfortable clothes they can move and sweat in. That is it. Skip the expensive kit until you know they are sticking with it. We will tell you if anything specific is needed for their group.

If your child is nervous, tell them the truth. Everyone on that field was new once, and the coaches expect it. Nobody is judging a first touch on day one.

The first few weeks

The opening weeks are about settling in, not proving anything.
